About me
Growing up in a household of 11, I have experienced food insecurity firsthand. Money was often tight and portions were sometimes small, and yet our family was blessed by neighbours dropping off groceries, sharing their garden vegetables, etc. I gained experience working with food; as a young kid, I helped make meals for my 8 siblings and grew crops of corn in the community garden, and during college summer breaks I worked at a small town abattoir. I first arrived as an intern at the Lord’s Food Bank in Rocky Mountain House a decade ago and have been working there ever since. In 2016, I was promoted to Executive Director. I began to undertake a transformation of the organization, seeking how to best serve the community; building relationships, listening to stories and struggles. I have learned a lot in that time and seen a lot of positive change both in myself and in the community. I am passionate about pursuing wisdom and sharing it with others. My approach to social issues is a combination of compassion, curiosity, and commitment.
